★Abstract
The rapid growth of renewable energy integration, electric vehicles, data centers, and industrial electrification has placed unprecedented demands on power conversion systems. Achieving higher efficiency, power density, and reliability in power electronics is critical to reducing global energy consumption and enabling the transition to a sustainable energy future. This special session focuses on cutting-edge research and innovative solutions in high-efficiency power electronics conversion, covering advanced topologies, wide-bandgap semiconductor devices, novel control strategies, and thermal management techniques.
With an increasing demand for high controllability and flexibility seen from the grid side, efficient and reliable power conversion stages are integrated with renewable energy in grid. Underpinned by advanced control and information technologies, power electronics converters play an essential role in renewable energy generation. Power electronics are needed in almost all kinds of renewable energy systems. It is used both for controlling the renewable source and for interfacing to the load, which can be grid-connected or operate in stand-alone mode. This session discusses important aspects of power electronics technologies in renewable energy generation.
